How to choose extra virgin olive oil
Choosing olive oil starts with understanding the label and knowing how you will use it. A clearly identified origin, producer and bottle size makes comparing oils easier.
Start with the category
Extra virgin olive oil is a defined quality category, rather than a description of packaging or price. Look for the full category name on the label. A premium-looking bottle alone does not explain the oil inside.
Look for a clear origin
Read where the oil comes from and who produces or bottles it. MÉLI comes from Lakonia in Greece and combines Koroneiki and Athinolia olives. Our producer is KASELL, in Sykea Lakonias.
Choose a bottle for your kitchen
Think about how often you cook. A bottle you use regularly is more practical than a large container left open for a long time. MÉLI comes in a 500 ml glass bottle at SEK 200, equivalent to SEK 400 per litre.
Use it at the table
Try olive oil with bread, tomatoes or warm vegetables to get to know it. Then decide which dishes you enjoy it with.
